Is my delivery guaranteed to be assigned to a driver?

UniHop works hard to match every delivery request with an available driver, and most deliveries are successfully assigned—often pretty quickly for common orders like shopping pickups, retail deliveries, and same-day local delivery. That said, driver assignment isn’t guaranteed because real-time availability can change based on your location, time of day, distance, vehicle needs, and delivery complexity. If your order is taking longer than expected, don’t worry—our Support team is here to help you review options and keep things moving.

Details

When you request a delivery through UniHop, the order is shared with nearby qualified drivers who can meet the requirements for that delivery (for example, the right vehicle type or the ability to complete a specific pickup and drop-off). In many cases, assignment happens quickly—especially for straightforward deliveries like:

  • store pickup and shopping delivery
  • retail orders and local package delivery
  • same-day delivery within the same city or metro area

However, some deliveries naturally take longer to match because they require a more specific driver, more time, or a larger vehicle. A few factors that commonly affect assignment speed or availability include:

  • Time of day: Peak periods (lunch/dinner rush, weekends, holidays) can be busier than off-peak hours, which can impact driver availability and response time.
  • Distance and route type: Short local trips are often easier to assign than long-distance delivery or deliveries that involve heavy traffic or longer drive time.
  • Item size and vehicle type: A small package is easier to match than an order that needs an SUV, pickup truck, cargo van, or box truck for large or bulky items.
  • Special handling needs: Items that require extra care, multiple pieces, or specific pickup rules may need a driver who’s equipped and comfortable with that type of delivery.
  • Pickup/drop-off access: Hard-to-access locations (limited parking, gated entry, loading docks, stairs, elevators, or secured buildings) can sometimes slow down assignment if extra steps are required.

The good news: If your delivery hasn’t been assigned yet—or if it’s time-sensitive—Support can help by checking the details, confirming constraints (like store closing times), and recommending the best next step based on the situation. We’re not just here to “take the request”—we’re here to help you get it completed successfully.

What's next?

If your delivery is time-sensitive, has a preferred window, or hasn’t been assigned yet, contact Support with your order details and:

  • your preferred delivery window (if any)
  • what you’re delivering (and the vehicle type needed, if known)
  • any important constraints (for example: store closing time, scheduled appointment, recipient availability, or delivery cutoffs)

We’ll help you figure out the best path forward—whether that means adjusting timing, confirming requirements, or identifying the most realistic option to get your delivery assigned and completed.
