What happens if no driver is available?

If no driver accepts your delivery request right away, UniHop won’t just stop there—we’ll keep searching for an available match and, when appropriate, check additional dispatch options to improve the chances of getting your delivery covered. Driver availability can change quickly, so many orders that don’t get accepted immediately are still assigned shortly after. And if your delivery is time-sensitive, our Support team is here to help you problem-solve fast so we can keep things moving.

Details

It’s normal for driver availability to vary throughout the day, especially for same-day delivery, on-demand delivery, and orders that require a specific vehicle type. A delivery might take longer to match if:

  • It’s busy in your area (peak hours, weekends, holidays, weather, or high order volume).
  • The delivery involves a longer distance, heavier traffic, or more delivery complexity.
  • The delivery requires a specific vehicle type, such as an SUV, pickup truck, cargo van, or box truck (often needed for bulky items, furniture, or large packages).
  • The pickup timing is tight, especially when a store is closing soon or the pickup has a limited release window.

Even when a driver isn’t immediately available, there are a few simple adjustments that can often improve matching—without changing what you need delivered.

Adjustments that can help (when possible)

  • Choosing a different time window: If you have flexibility, shifting your delivery window to a less busy time (off-peak hours) can increase the chances of faster driver assignment.
  • Confirming the pickup is ready: If an order isn’t ready for release, drivers may decline to avoid wasted trips and long wait times—so confirming “ready for pickup” can make a big difference.
  • Clarifying item details: Sharing accurate details like item size, weight, number of pieces, and whether help is needed helps ensure the request is offered to drivers with the right vehicle and capacity, which can speed up matching.
  • Increasing the additional driver compensation (optional): If you’d like to improve the chances of a faster pickup, you can choose to increase the additional driver compensation or tip. This may make the offer more appealing to drivers—especially during busy times, for longer distances, or for more complex pickups.

If you’re unsure what change would help most, that’s okay—Support can review the request and recommend the most effective next step based on your location and delivery needs.

What's next?

If your order is urgent or time-sensitive, contact Support and share:

  • your order details (pickup and drop-off info)
  • the latest “must-deliver-by” time or preferred delivery deadline
  • pickup readiness (is the order ready and available for release right now?)

From there, we’ll help you decide the best path forward—whether that means continuing to search, adjusting key details to improve matching, or recommending the most realistic option to minimize delays and get your delivery completed successfully.
