When do businesses manually request deliveries?

If your orders aren't automatically integrated, when you request a delivery depends on your business type and how your orders come in. Most businesses fall into one of three patterns: ASAP orders, same-day scheduled orders, or future orders.

Details

ASAP orders
This is common for floral shops, fast-casual restaurants, and bakeries. As soon as your staff finishes preparing an order, you request a courier for immediate pickup.

Same-day scheduled orders
For orders you know about ahead of time but don't need picked up right away, request the delivery as soon as the order comes in. This matters most for longer-distance deliveries or ones that need special handling. Scheduling early gives the system more room to plan routes and assign the right driver, which helps with on-time delivery.

Future orders
The same logic applies here, only more so. If an order needs a specific driver or special equipment, book it as far in advance as you can. Waiting until the last minute limits your options.
