How to add a signature requirement to a business delivery?
To require a signature, go to Order Info > Proof of Delivery when you submit your delivery request, and select both "Dropoff Photo" and "Handoff Signature." This tells the driver they must hand the order directly to the customer and get their signature before the delivery counts as complete.

When you'd want this
A signature requirement is useful anytime you need proof that a specific person received the order, not just that it was left somewhere. This comes up a lot with:
- Food orders — especially large catering orders, orders with alcohol, or orders going to offices and buildings where "left at the door" isn't good enough
- High-value items — anything you'd want documented if a customer later says they never got it
- Repeat delivery issues — if you've had packages go missing or end up with the wrong person at an address
The tradeoff
Without a signature, delivery is faster and simpler. The driver drops the order and moves on. But you lose proof of exactly who received it, and that can make disputes harder to resolve.
With a signature, you get that proof. The tradeoff is that delivery can take longer, especially if the customer isn't available right away.
What happens if the customer isn't available
Drivers will try to reach the customer for 8 to 15 minutes. If they can't get a signature in that window, the order is returned to the store.
If this happens, you'll be charged twice the delivery fee for that order. This covers the original delivery attempt and the return trip. It's a good idea to make sure the customer knows a signature will be required, so they're ready when the driver arrives.
How the flow works
- Submit your order through the Request Delivery tab while signed in to your business account.
- Fill out the pickup and drop-off information as usual.
- Under Order Info > Proof of Delivery, select both Dropoff Photo and Handoff Signature.

- Submit the order.
Advantages and disadvantages
Advantages
- Proof the order reached the right person
- Fewer disputes over "I never received my order"
- Better fit for high-value or sensitive deliveries
Disadvantages
- Slower delivery if the customer isn't immediately available
- Risk of a return-to-store if no one signs within the attempt window
- Double delivery fee if the order has to be returned
What's Next?
- If you want signature confirmation on your next order, select both Dropoff Photo and Handoff Signature under Proof of Delivery when you submit the request.
- Let your customer know ahead of time that someone needs to be available to sign, especially for time-sensitive orders like food.
- If an order gets returned due to a missed signature, expect the delivery fee to be charged twice for that order.
